"NOTED FOR EXCELLENCE"

August 11, 2008

Dear Parents and Community Members:

The faculty and staff of William Frangus Elementary would like to invite you to be more involved in the decision-making process of our school.  We are beginning to form our 2008-2009 School Advisory Committee (SAC).  The functions of SAC will include:

  • Participating in the decision-making process by assessing our needs, establishing priorities, defining goals, and evaluating the effectiveness of our School Improvement Plan.

  • Monitoring the progress and implementation of our 2008-2009 School Improvement Plan
  • Developing a School Improvement Plan for 2009-2010 school year.

  • Increasing the communication among our parents, school, and community

The school is seeking a balanced teacher-parent representation on the council that represent a diverse cross-section of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by William Frangus Elementary School.  The parents of our community must elect the parents who will serve on the SAC.  The Frangus SAC will meet once a month for one hour.  The attendance of all council members at each monthly meeting is essential for remaining in compliance with SAC by-laws.  The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008.

If you are interested in being a nominee for the 2008-2009 School Advisory Council, please complete the form below and plan to attend our first SAC meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at 6:00pm in the Frangus Media Center.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeffrey C. Bauer
Principal

SAC
School Advisory Council

The School Advisory Council is ethnically, racially and economically representative of its community. The SAC, which provides a link between the school and the local community is composed of a representative group of teachers, parents, administrators and community members to assist the school principal in the preparation and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan. Money is allocated every year to the SAC on a per student basis. The SAC then develops a budget and approves various expenditures for programs and materials that will improve the academic program at the school. For example, SAC has provided money for Math, Reading and Science Nights at the school. To learn more about SAC's role read the SAC Bylaws.

The SAC encourages participation of other school staff, parents, and community members. To become a member of Frangus Elementary School Advisory Council please contact the school office at 407-296-6469.
