"NOTED FOR EXCELLENCE

August 6, 2008

Welcome Back Parents and Students!

The faculty and I truly appreciate your support during the 2007-2008 school year.  By working together we accomplished many of our educational goals last school year. We are extremely proud that the Florida Department of Education has recognized Frangus Elementary as an “A” school for the fifth year in a row.  The Florida Commissioner of Education also designated Frangus Elementary as a Five-Star School. Schools receiving this recognition demonstrated and documented the importance of exemplary community involvement towards student achievement in the areas of business partnerships, family involvement, school volunteers, student community service, and School Advisory Council (SAC) to achieve student success.  We could not have accomplished these achievements without the hard work of a dedicated staff, involved parents, and students who are motivated to enjoy success.

The first day of school is Monday, August 18, 2008.  We are looking forward to seeing our returning students and families, meeting the many new faces who are joining our Frangus family, and beginning a new year filled with numerous new opportunities.  We welcome everyone into our Frangus family and look forward to sharing in your families’ education.  Be sure to mark your calendars, as you won’t want to miss the following events:

     Meet the Teacher:    August 15th, 4:00 to 6:00pm (K-5)
                                  Open House Night:   September 18th, 6:00 to 7:45pm (K-5)

Please read through all the information contained in the student folder. The student folder is a handy reference for you to keep and refer to throughout the school year.  It also includes parent handbook information on the inside covers and important information that needs to be completed and returned to school as soon as possible!  Remember to review the 2008-2009 Student Code of Conduct with your child.  Please sign the front page and return it to your child’s teacher during the first week of school.  Also, be sure to check out our Frangus Elementary website for important information at http://www.frangus.ocps.net

As your Principal, I am here to serve the students and community of William Frangus Elementary School.  Please feel free to get in touch with your child’s teacher or contact me anytime. The Frangus faculty is extremely proud of our students’ achievement.  We will continue to focus on working together as a team in our pursuit to support student learning and achievement in an environment that is conducive for learning and safe for our students.

The faculty and I look forward to seeing you and your family on August 15th!

Sincerely,

Jeffrey C. Bauer, EdD
