PTA Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Bauer at 6:00 p.m.

Principal’s Report
After the pledge, Mrs. Russ gave her update, spoke about Safe Walking day, and the Nurses fund.  We are being asked to raise $16,000 to fund our nurses this year.

Special Events
Joanna Welch and Mariel Welch gave an update on the planned special events including:

  • 11/2 -“Salute Our Soldiers” dance which will make care packages to be sent to armed forces overseas. 
  • 1/11 - Pasta Night and Silent Auction where money is raised by auctioning theme baskets while enjoying a pasta dinner
  • 2/13 - Big Heart/Little Heart Dance
  • 3/30 - Spring Carnival

Plus tentative events.  A handout was distributed with detailed information.

Fundraising and Membership

  • A beautification plan is in the works, with ideas such as murals and landscaping.  A date will be set where volunteers will help weed, clean up, and plant.  Attendees were invited to help with Partners in Education. 

  • A parent who works from Wachovia will contact Mrs. Russ with information where employees will come in and read to our students.

VP Report
Stacey Blake and Ann Cherolini presented what the PTA funds and planned to fund this year, encouraging the parents in attendance to sign up for PTA committees.

Treasurer’s Report
Erin Thomas presented the proposed budget.  The budget and new PTA president Cheryl Kelley were approved.

Committee Reports

  • Membership –Mandy Fillenwarth spoke about the PTA membership drive that is occurring in October.  The class with the highest percentage of PTA memberships will win a party..
  • Stacey Blake and Ann Cherolini gave an update on the Sally Foster fundraiser.  Although an exact figure was not available, approximately $7,000 was made. 

SAC
Elizabeth Barnard presented SAC to explain to the attendees what SAC does and how it works.   Parents were encouraged to sign up to participate in this very important committee.

ADDitions
Erin Thomas spoke about our ADDitions volunteer program explaining that volunteers must register online and be approved in order to volunteer in the classroom and/or chaperone field trips.  An additional paper form must also be completed for field trips.
