PTA Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order by Erin Thomas at 3:45 p.m.

In attendance:

VP Report Requested that the AR money distribution be changed back to way it was handled previously, where teachers made their purchases and then submitted the receipts for reimbursement.  Also met with the other fundraising company and voted to use them for next year instead of Sally Foster.

Treasurer’s Report We are having a problem recovering funds from a parent for bounced checks from the Sally Foster fundraiser.  Dr. Bauer will research to find out what recourse we have.  Also, reported that we spent $2800 on the carnival and we took in $6200.

Past Events Review The carnival was a great success.  Some changes for next year were discussed and included:

  1. Move the basket auction to its own night
  2. Have Chick Fil-A again (but no pizza)
  3. Buy more distinctive tickets and more of them so students will not be able to use forged ones
  4. Provide parents with a menu and price list ahead of time (so they will be able to determine the number of tickets they need to buy)
  5. Get an additional face painter and move their location away from the dance floor
  6. Possibly get Radio Disney to do the music
Also stated that Thank You letters need to go out to all the donating vendors.  Bulletin board needs to come down.

New Business

  1. Classroom grant requests: Board voted to approve a first grade teacher’s request to purchase a magnetic storyboard.  A kindergarten teacher made a request for an online subscription to better help prepare students for first grade.  This was approved contingent that this subscription be shared among the kindergarten team.  The specials’ teachers requested money for fifth grade prizes and it was approved. The money will be taken from the fifth grade budget item.
  2. Next year’s board.  A sheet will be going home to see who is interested in being a board member.  Expressed interest at meeting for a position: Ann Cherloini for Vice President, Angela Fuller for Historian, Cheryl Kelly for Teacher Appreciation, and Mariel and Joanne Welch for Special Events. Open positions are President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Fundraising.  Also, Mandy Fillenwarth resigned her membership position, as her children will be attending another school next fall.
  3. Next years fundraising: Decided to use a company we used previously.  Also discussed ordering t-shirts for next year.  Need to get prices and information from several sources to make a decision.
  4. ADDitions night will be held on May 8th.

Committee Reports

Membership-Mandy   Mandy handed over all her documents and information as she is resigning her position.

Beautification-Michelle  The artist still needs to complete the painting in the cafeteria.  There is leftover paint, which will be stored in our storage room.

Will be held over the summer break.  Exact date and location to be determined.
