PTA Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order by Erin Thomas at 4:15 p.m.

In attendance:

VP Report-Ann had samples for a new fundraiser using a company that was used prior to Sally Foster.

Treasurer’s Report -Erin reported that there is about a $2,000 penalty the PTA must pay to the IRS due to the 2004-2005 taxes not being filed.  A letter requesting that this penalty be removed will accompany the payment.

Past Events Review    Heart to Heart Dance was declared a success.  Only change for next year is to increase the admission fee.
The general PTA meeting held at Family Reading Night resulted in the approval of the revised budget.

Upcoming Events

  1. FCAT Support - Teachers will check to see how many letters from parents are still needed. Teachers will follow up with those parents with phone calls and as a last resort, buddy teachers will write the letters.  The pretzels and mints will be delivered to teachers this week.
  2. Family Fun Night & Auction-To be presented during committee reports.

Committee Reports

  1. Membership, Mandy -We have 199 members.
  2. Beautification, Michelle- We need to paint the background blue in the cafeteria and then the artist will come and paint the inspirational words.  This background painting will be done on Saturday morning from 9:30-11.  Michelle will bring the painting supplies but ladders will be needed.
  3. Fundraising, Erin & Michelle-Box Tops-$152 collected to go out for the February 28th deadline.

D.   Special Events, Joanna & MarielCarnival/Auction/Family Fun Night

  • will be held March 30th. 
  • Committee heads are needed for the following: Inflatables/rides, Dunk Tank, Food, Baskets, and Games. 
  • Already set up are: face painting and the DJ. 
  • Michelle volunteered to head up Food. 
  • Also need information on renting lights for event. 
  • Joanna and Mariel will follow up with an email to all. 
  • Letters need to go out requesting basket donations; Erin will try to locate letter used last year.

Principal’s Report
Dr. Bauer has been informed of a money surplus for Extended Day. These funds may be used for Technology improvements so he may be able to buy the sound system.
